FR is a fork off OR 2.4(6?, I don't remember). I/we forked due to Jon
moving onto a different data schema and a bunch of us using the older
version not wanting to move to the new schema. Most of us using the
older version have tweaked it to our own preferences as well. Right now,
we have a stable release that will probably be reworked to allow globals
to be turned off and use the $_POST, $_GET, etc variables.
Some of the differences between the original forked code and the current
FR code are the use of the image tools for creating thumbnails, the
addition of some contributed mods, including the property features by
Tom Anderson. Since the fork, OpenRealty has been moved from Jon's site
to openrealty.org and was under active development the last time I
checked. We also have stuck with MySQL where OR has moved to database
abstraction allowing many different types of backends. We are kinda at
the point of 'if it aint broke, don't fix it'.

A little fresh blood never hurt. I think most on the mailing list just
watch to see if and when I make a post. There is a 'minor' outstanding
issue regarding the GD code. Depending on your versions of GD and PHP it
doesn't seem to properly check for the installed version of GD and
quietly fails to create the thumbnail, instead inserting a full size
image of the image being uploaded.
Despite some slow development and lack of feature requests I think all
using this version are happy with the functionality(and if not, they
should speak up more ;) ). There is still a halfway decent number of
downloads of the code on a monthly basis... even if it's just to rip
ideas out of it that's kinda the point of GPL software.
Anyway, have at it... see something you think we need/want throw it out.
I'm more than happy to add code into the base. I'm sure if you look
through the history, you will see that I have tried to make it easy to
migrate from Jon's version to ours trying to include upgrade code.
