[Freerealty] Image state of play

Hi Patrick and everyone else.
Wondering how you were getting on with imagemagick and netpbm?
Are you making them with auto setup of binaries in a seperate folder?
The reason I ask, is I see this ultimately as the resolution of many
problems people have with many software scripts, that unless the people
controlling the server are prepared to install the libraries, webmasters are
ultimately left out in the cold.
For example we do not have shell access to our servers, only ftp and cpanel.
This is normally enough, apart from when you need to install additional
packages to the server. Now in the case of programmes like imagemagick and
netpbm, I am of the understanding that they do not require to be in the root
of a server, but can be located in other server space, like a subfolder of
individual webspace, so long as the script doing the calling has the correct
pointers to the location.
Only problem now is, most of these packages from what I can see, still need
shell access to set them up even in other locations than the root, because
of the way the packages are delivered. (requiring makefile) Life would be a
lot easier if they were available as a simple uploadable script or
directory.

best regards
Tropicaltech
